Where are your materials coming from?

When designing a product it is important to understand not only which materials are the right ones, but also where they come from. Most consumers are unaware of "conflict materials" such as tin, tungsten, cobalt, gold, and tantulum, which are used in most of our electronics. Conflict materials refer to minerals mined in conditions of armed conflict and human rights abuses, notably in the eastern provinces of the Democratic republic of the Congo. Most people living in militia-controlled regions live in fear of their lives, as massacres of entire families as well as brutal rapes are a common practice.

Solutions:

-Establish clear paper trails from mine to product.
